Kelly is a gerontologist who has been studying aging and retirement issues for over 20 years. She was one of the first to ever receive a degree in this field, from the prestigious Andrus School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California, considered one of the top schools in the nation for the study of age-related issues.
Passionately committed to educating the public on longevity and healthy aging, Kelly started her own company, Lifestyles in 1986, where she serves as a consultant and motivational speaker to various organizations serving the senior market.
From her work in the financial industry with longevity’s effect on retirement planning to conducting Pre-Retirement programs for corporate clients, and providing keynote presentations at various conferences across the country, Kelly is sought out to motivate audiences with her powerfully engaging programs on new images of aging.
The United Nations and the World Health Organization recruited Kelly and her team of super seniors in a collaboration with the Sporting Goods Manufacturer’s Association to celebrate the “International Year of the Older Person.”
The County of San Diego also contracted her to develop a unique wellness and fitness program, “The Feeling Fit Clubs” that has won numerous national awards including the 2003 American Society on Aging’s Healthcare & Aging Award, and is now considered a statewide and national model that airs weekdays on cable TV. As a result of this work, Kelly was the recipient of the County’s prestigious “Starfish Award” for excellence in community service in recognition of making a positive difference in people’s lives.
In addition to being a certified AARP retirement specialist, local newspaper columnist, and elected consultant with the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports for older adults, Kelly has also co-produced a local cable television show, Age Talk, and her message has been shared internationally throughout Canada, England, and Australia.
One of her most attributed achievements that brought Kelly into the national spotlight was authoring her first internationally released book, “What’s Age Got To Do With It? Secrets to Aging In Extraordinary Ways,” an inspiring collection of true stories profiling 103 super seniors, age 67 to 122, and their secrets to ageless living. Kelly recently completed her second book of the same title, Volume II, which again features more true stories of extraordinary aging, plus two new sections on Life Lessons and SuperSenior Celebs!
Kelly’s upbeat message has also coined her the “age angel” for her unique vision of the current and future older adult population which has been featured on both radio and TV talk shows nationwide including Oprah, Rosie O’Donnell, Roseanne, Good Morning America and the Today Show.
Her message on aging is both informative and inspiring, and by sharing the good news about aging, Kelly hopes to forever change the way people look at aging. . . and even how they age themselves.

A New Perspective on Retirement With people living longer, healthier lives than ever before, the traditional form of retirement is changing. The effect of adding 30 years to our life expectancy means people are potentially spending one-third of their life in retirement. While this may sound like good news, the reality is it won’t come without a plan. One of the greatest fears among Americans today is outliving their money. Yet people spend more time planning a two-week vacation than the third of life they will likely spend in retirement. There’s definitely a psychology to investing and retirement planning and this program will explore a new view of retirement and ways to better motivate people to prepare for the reality of this new longevity.
Secrets to Aging In Extraordinary Ways How much control do we really have over our aging process and what are the secrets to living a healthy, happy, long life? Never before have we had the numbers of people living as long as they are living, and as well as they are living. As a result, with a healthier older adult population to study, we’re learning some fascinating new things. Of particular interest is the role mindset, attitude and beliefs play, as they are the driving force behind lifestyle behaviors – the key factor in determining both how long and how well people live. Current studies estimate that 70% of aging today is based on lifestyle, while only 30% based on genetics. Aging is definitely changing and this program will forever change the way you look at aging … and even the way you age yourself.
A New Image of Aging A new image of aging is sweeping across the country as people redefine what it means to grow older today. We are doing some extraordinary things in this new phase of life, which is contributing to the reality of people feeling 10 to 15 years younger than their natural age. From re-inventing oneself through various life stages to understanding the difference between biological and chronological age, never before has there been more exciting research on living better longer. The old image of aging as a time of inevitable decline is being replaced with a more vital, self-empowering reality of longevity. The key is thinking differently and this program will inspire you to believe age is just a number!
